ISRC & UPC Policy
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) and UPC (Universal Product Code) identifiers are essential for tracking, monetization, and rights management across digital platforms. DireNote Media ensures proper handling and standardization of these identifiers.
DireNote-Generated Codes
If an artist does not provide valid ISRC or UPC codes, DireNote Media will generate and assign official, industry-standard identifiers at no additional cost.
All codes generated by DireNote Media remain under DireNote Media’s administrative control for the purpose of distribution, tracking, monetization, and reporting.
Artist-Provided ISRC & UPC Codes
Artists may submit their own ISRC and/or UPC codes, provided such codes are valid, unique, and compliant with international standards.
By submitting artist-assigned ISRC or UPC codes, you authorize DireNote Media to fully manage and control the use of those codes within its distribution and monetization systems.
DireNote Media reserves the right to determine whether submitted ISRC or UPC codes are managed using DireNote Media–owned registries or third-party authorized registrants.
Code Validation & Replacement
DireNote Media may reject, replace, or reassign ISRC or UPC codes if:
- The codes are invalid, duplicated, or improperly formatted
- The codes conflict with existing releases or metadata
- The codes are associated with copyright disputes or misuse
- Third-party platforms require correction or reassignment
Replacement of codes may result in loss of historical data, playlist placements, or accumulated analytics, for which DireNote Media is not liable.
Ownership & Portability
ISRC and UPC codes do not constitute ownership of sound recordings. Ownership of the music remains solely with the artist.
Upon termination of services, portability of ISRC or UPC codes is subject to platform policies, registry rules, and DireNote Media’s internal validation. DireNote Media does not guarantee successful reuse of codes outside its system.
Misuse & Fraud
Use of unauthorized, recycled, or falsely claimed ISRC or UPC codes is strictly prohibited and may result in content removal, revenue forfeiture, or account termination.
Policy Updates
DireNote Media reserves the right to update this ISRC & UPC Policy at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the latest version.
